Hi everyone. It’s been a while since I have written hasn’t it! This post is not related to food, but I needed to share this with you guys!
Last Sunday I came to church with the hope of a good day! So we get there and I am waiting for my friends to show up when one showed up. I am not going to say her name because of privacy reasons so I’ll just call her… uhhhh… Her?
Well anyway normally she would have tackled me in a hug but she didn’t! ”Hey kayla, how are you?” she said with a forced smile.
”OK what’s wrong” I said bluntly.
“Oh, uhh, (sigh) One of my best friends just died of cancer! ” She replied, holding back tears. 😦
Honestly I didn’t really know how to respond. So I did the first thing I thought of : I gave her a hug.
This is my advice on how to comfort your friend:
- Give them a shoulder to cry on.
- Let them know that you are there for them.
- PRAY, PRAY, PRAY!!!
- Ask if their friend was a Christian, if they were remind them about where they are, Heaven! (If they weren’t do NOT under any circumstance say that they are in hell because it will make it a lot worse!)
- PRRRRAAAAAAAYYYYY!
- Ask about what he/she was like.
Revelation 7: 15-17 says
“Therefore,
they are before the throne of God
and serve him day and night in his temple;
and he who sits on the throne
will shelter them with his presence.
16 ‘Never again will they hunger;
never again will they thirst.
The sun will not beat down on them,’[a]
nor any scorching heat.
17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne
will be their shepherd;
‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’[b]
‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
because we know where we are going.
